Rust is an open world survival game currently available on Steam. You could even play one of the million other games currently available to you while you wait. There’s been a lot of half-baked survival games on PS4 (I’m not calling you out here, DayZ, but I’m not not calling you out, either), so it’s good to see a developer trying to maximise how good a resource intensive game can be on console.Īs for when we might get to play a beta, just hold tight and wait for official confirmation from Facepunch.
The latter part of the second tweet ties into what Newman has said previously, that they wouldn’t be releasing the game on console until they’re comfortable with the results. We have many struggles to overcome until any kind of open beta is possible. It's in closed beta so we can test internally. This isn't an awesome joke so we can suprise you. While this may have excited patient console players, it turns out that this was for internal testing only, as noted by Facepunch’s Garry Newman on Twitter.

The port, which is being handled by Double Eleven, has had no new info since the announcement, though it has recently popped up randomly on the store for the Xbox One.Įagle-eyed fans noticed late last week that Rust Console Edition – Closed Beta had been added to the store, though without any information on a release date or how to access the beta itself. Since being announced for a console release sometime this year, it’s been a little quiet where the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Rust are concerned.
